At Triple Eight Transport Inc., we believe that kindness and integrity are just as important as efficiency and reliability in the trucking industry. This year, one of our very own drivers, Daljit Sohi, exemplified these values in a way that has earned him recognition in the industry. We are incredibly proud to share that Daljit was named a TCA Highway Angel at the Truckload Carriers Association Annual Convention in March 2025.
A Story of Integrity and Compassion
Daljit’s journey to receiving this prestigious award began on November 29, 2024. While traveling from Banff to Salmon Arm, he noticed a woman, Shailly James, drop her purse at a rest stop near Golden, British Columbia. The purse contained cash, a gold chain, credit cards, and personal identification. Unaware of the loss, Shailly continued her journey. However, Daljit saw what happened and took it upon himself to ensure her belongings were safely returned.
For three hours, Daljit followed Shailly’s vehicle, waiting for the right opportunity to alert her. When she stopped at a gas station in Sicamous, he approached her and returned the purse, completely intact. Overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, Shailly offered him a $500 reward, but Daljit refused, saying he was simply doing what was right.
Recognizing Everyday Heroes
Daljit’s act of kindness is a reflection of the incredible character and responsibility that so many truck drivers demonstrate daily. It’s these moments, often unseen and unrecognized, that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. Thanks to the Truckload Carriers Association’s Highway Angel Program, these stories are brought to light, showcasing the compassion and integrity of professional truck drivers across North America.
Honouring All Highway Angels
Daljit’s recognition is a proud moment for Triple Eight Transport Inc., but we also want to take a moment to acknowledge all the Highway Angels honored this year and in years past. These drivers go above and beyond to help those in need, making the highways safer and more compassionate places for everyone.
To Daljit and all the Highway Angels, thank you for your dedication and for reminding us all that kindness truly goes a long way.✨
